Expanded Line of Vision Inspection Systems to be Featured
at Metalform 2007
Automated Control Systems of New Haven IN will feature a
variety of vision inspection options for stamped metal parts.
The Visionmaster Series of 100% inspection systems has been
expanded to provide more choices for metal stampers. The Visionmaster
is available in both single camera and multi-camera stand
alone systems, depending on the inspection needs of the part.
To maximize the effectiveness of the inspection, the camera
orientation can be horizontal, vertical, or angled. Available
options include adjustable tooling, dedicated tooling, and
several different vision hardware platforms.
Also available is the single or dual camera Visionmaster
integrated with the Wyndmaster 3200 Series of automatic take-ups.
With this design, the camera, lighting, and tooling are incorporated
into the product feeder, greatly reducing plant floor space.
This integrated system simplifies set-up for each new part.

ACS Introduces Automated Flange Detection Option for Traverse
Take-ups
Automated Control Systems (ACS) of New Haven, IN, USA has
developed a new Flange Detection feature for High Speed Traverse
Take-ups. The new feature was designed for use with square
wire product, but can also be used with any traverse wound
product. The electronic flange detector allows the take-up
to automatically adjust for variations in reel construction,
including warped flanges and reel to reel size variations.
The flange detection feature provides feedback about flange
position to the machine's control system. The control system
then adjusts the traverse return position to correspond with
the actual flange position. The resulting machine provides
consistent traverse wound product and reduced product shifting
with minimal operator intervention.

Detection, please contact the Sales department at Sales@ACSmfg.com

ACS' Ten Reel Take-up Maximizes Unattended Winding
Automated Control Systems of New Haven, IN has developed
the Wyndamster 3210, a fully automatic ten reel rewinder for
high speed stamping processes.
The Wyndmaster 3210 incorporates ten-reel operation with
a side-by-side reel design to maximize the capacity of unattended
winding. The Wyndmaster 3210 coils any product strip up to
2.5" wide and accommodates reels up to 30" in diameter.
The machine winds product at speeds of up to 650 IPM, and
includes both overwind and underwind operation. Standard features
include a tangential feeder for careful product handling and
paper interleaf with programmable tension control.
Options available with this machine include an integrated
vision inspection system, reel size upgrades, operation with
single or dual strip processes, and an accumulator for increased
speed capacity. There is also an option that provides fast,
switch selectable changeover between overwind and underwind
operation.

ACS' Center Driven Payout Provides Reliable
Alternative to Rim Drive Payouts
Automated Control Systems (ACS) of New Haven, IN, USA has
developed the Wyndmaster CDP, a Center Driven Payout for Traverse
wound coils of metal strip, wire, and plastic extrusions.
This new machine is a mobile, single reel payout designed
as an alternative to rim-drive payouts.
The Wyndmaster CDP eliminates any problems caused by inconsistent
reel flange quality. Uneven flange diameters or damaged reels
can cause rim-drive payouts to run unpredictably, including
speed fluctuations and reels tipping over. The center-drive
design of the Wyndmaster CDP eliminates these common operating
problems.
The Wyndmaster CDP accommodates coil weights of up to 2500
pounds and payout speeds of up to 120 FPM. Coil weight and
reel size upgrades are available as options. Payout speed
is controlled by a swing arm dancer and variable speed drive.
The machine is loaded by locking a reel of product in place
with two retractable arbors. A foot actuated air cylinder
lifts the reel into payout position and lowers the empty reels
for replacement. Casters and floor brakes are provided for
easy positioning in any process line.
The Wyndmaster CDP is one of over 20 machines available in
the Wyndmaster product line. For more information about the
Wyndmaster CDP and other material handling systems available
from ACS, please contact the Sales department at 1-800-949-0661
or Sales@ACSmfg.com.

ACS Develops Eight Reel Take-up for Small Floor Spaces
Automated Control Systems of New Haven, IN has developed
the Wyndmaster 348, a fully automatic eight reel take-up designed
for applications with limited floor space.
The Wyndmaster 348 measures 52" wide by 93" deep,
which is the smallest available footprint for any eight reel
take-up on the market. It can be used with any product strip
up to 3" wide, and any reel diameter up to 30".
The machine receives product at speeds of up to 600 IPM. Standard
features include paper interleaf operation, a tangential feeder
for careful product handling, a one-minute changeover between
overwind and underwind mode, and automatic sample strips with
programmable length.
Options available with this machine include dual strip operation,
adjustable product tension, programmable paper tension, high
speed/high torque motors, and corrosion resistant materials.
The Wyndmaster 348 uses a four position horizontal indexer
with two spindles at each position. This machine is suitable
for use with high speed stampings, rubber and plastic extrusions,
and other continuous product strips. The Wyndmaster 348 is
the first in a group of ACS take-ups with expanded reel capacity.
A ten reel rewinder is currently in development and will be
available later this year.

ACS, please contact the Sales department at 1-800-949-0661.

Wyndmaster 324 Take-up from ACS Offers Both Single and
Dual Strip Capability
Automated Control Systems of New Haven, IN has developed
the Wyndmaster 324, a four reel Automatic Take-up for high
speed stamping processes.
The Wyndmaster 324 incorporates four-reel operation with
a side-by-side reel design. This design allows the machine
to operate with both single strip and dual strip processes.
The machine can also function in both overwind and underwind
mode. The winding mode is switch selectable, so complete conversion
from one direction to the other occurs in less than one minute.
The Wyndmaster 324 can be programmed to operate with varying
sizes of stamped parts, and up to one hundred programs can
be saved and protected with a password. To provide consistent
wind quality for any size part, the winder employs a motorized
tangential feeder. The tangential feeder uses horizontal and
rotational movement to follow the reel diameter as it fills
with product. Thus, the parts are gently transferred from
feeder to reel, with minimum travel distance and reduced chance
for part damage.
Options available with this machine include programmable
product tension, programmable paper tension, high speed/high
torque motors, and corrosion resistant materials.

ACS, please contact the Sales department at 1-800-949-0661.

Automated Control Systems of New Haven, IN has developed
a Cut to Length Machine for use with Teflon hose overbraided
with stainless steel wire. The machine includes a payoff,
cutting system, feeder bowl and assembly system. The finished
product assembly consists of a section of hose inserted through
two hose fittings oriented for downstream processes.
The Cut to Length Machine produces up to 6 assemblies per
minute, depending on hose length. The machine is equipped
with a PLC and operator interface, from which the operator
can control process speed, batch size, and the length of each
section of hose.
Options available with this machine include speed upgrades,
varying hose diameters, varying hose materials, part sorting
systems, conveying systems, packaging systems, and coilers.
For more information about continuous product material handling
systems available from ACS, please contact the Sales department
